"Next Step presents the Mead® Back to School Giveaway" Sweepstakes
Official Rules - No Purchase Necessary to Enter or Win

1. Two ways to enter: (1) To enter Next Step Magazine's "Mead® Back to School Giveaway" Sweepstakes online, complete and submit a registration form at the website www.nextstepmag.com and check off the box for the Back to School Giveaway. Entry must be filled out completely and accurately with name, address, city, state, zip code, age, phone number (including area code), and e-mail address. Online entries must include a valid e-mail address. Online entries must be received by 11:59:59 PM Eastern Time on 10/31/08. OR (2) On a 3" x 5" postcard, hand print your name, address, city, state, zip code, age, phone number (including area code) and email address (optional) and mail it to: Mead/Next Step Back to School Giveaway, The Next Step Magazine, 86 W. Main St, Victor, NY 14564 to be postmarked by 10/31/08 and received by 5:00 p.m. on 11/7/08. Limit of one entry per person (e-mail address). Entries become the sole property of The Next Step Magazine ("Sponsor") and will not be acknowledged or returned. All entries are subject to Sponsor’s Privacy Policy, which is available at www.nextstepmag.com/privacy and expressly incorporated herein by reference. Any form of entry other than those described herein is void. Sponsor and their agents are not responsible for incorrect, lost, late, misdirected, damaged, incomplete, illegible, or postage-due entries. Sponsor and their agents are not responsible for computer system or phone line errors, software/hardware malfunctions, or other errors, failures, or delays in transmission that are human, mechanical or technical in nature, or any combination thereof, including any injury or damage to entrant's or any other person's computer related to or resulting from downloading or entering any part of this sweepstakes. Sponsor reserves the right in its sole discretion to cancel or suspend the internet portion of this sweepstakes should a virus, bug, or other cause beyond the control of Sponsor corrupt the administration or proper conduct of the sweepstakes and all online entries submitted at the time of cancellation or suspension will be considered in the random drawing. Online entries will be deemed to have been submitted by the Authorized Account Holder of the e-mail address submitted at time of entry. "Authorized Account Holder" is defined as the natural person who is assigned to an e-mail address by an Internet access provider, online service provider, or other organization (such as a business or educational institution) that is responsible for assigning e-mail addresses for the domain associated with the submitted e-mail address. In the event of a dispute over the ownership of an e-mail address, the Authorized Account Holder of the designated e-mail address will be considered the potential winner of any prize. This sweepstakes shall be governed by New York law. By entering, participating or accepting any prize in this sweepstakes, you agree that New York courts shall have exclusive jurisdiction over any dispute or litigation arising from or relating to this sweepstakes and that venue shall be only in Rochester, New York.
2. Sweepstakes is open to legal residents of the U.S. and Canada (excluding Puerto Rico and Quebec), age 14 or older as of 10/31/08. Employees of Sponsor, their affiliates, subsidiaries, dealers, distributors, retailers, advertising and production agencies, and their immediate families and residents of their households are not eligible. Anyone who attempts to defraud or in any way tamper with the sweepstakes will be deemed ineligible, and may be prosecuted to the full extent of the law. All federal, state, and local laws and regulations apply. Void outside the United States of America and Canada, and where prohibited or restricted by law. Odds of winning depend upon the number of entries received. Estimated internet circulation of offer: 200,000 impressions.
3. Prizes and approximate prize values: One (1) Grand Prize Mead prize pack to include Two (2) year-long subscriptions to Mead® Map, two (2) X-Large Five Star® Flex® NoteBinders™, two (2) Mead® HASBRO notebooks, two (2) Five Star® Advance® Index Card Fat Lil’s, two (2) Five Star Flex™ Weekly Assignment Books, and two (2) Advance® Report Covers – MSRP $116, and ten (10) Second Prize Mead prize packs to include One (1) year-long subscription to Mead® Map, one (1)  X-Large Five Star® Flex® NoteBinder™, one (1) Mead® HASBRO notebook, one (1)  Five Star® Advance® Index Card Fat Lil’, one (1) Five Star Flex™ Weekly Assignment Book, and one (1) Advance® Report Cover – MSRP $58.  Total value of all prizes: $696. Limit one prize per person per household. All prizes will be awarded provided a sufficient number of eligible entries are received.
4. Potential winners will be selected from all eligible entries received, in a random drawing conducted on or about 11/11/08 by the Sponsor and whose decisions are final. All winners are subject to verification of eligibility and compliance with these Official Rules. Any prize notification letter or prize returned as undeliverable or any failure to comply with these Official Rules will result in forfeiture of eligibility to win any prize and an alternate potential winner will be selected. If prize winner is a minor, a parent or legal guardian will be required to accept prize. No substitution for prizes except as may be necessary due to unavailability, in which case a prize of equal or greater value will be awarded. Prizes are not transferable or redeemable for cash. Taxes are the winner's responsibility. Prize acceptance constitutes permission (except where prohibited) to use winner's name and likeness for publicity purposes without additional compensation. Sponsor, its directors, officers, employees and their agents are not liable in any way for any winner's acceptance or use of a prize. Request must be postmarked by 10/31/08. VT and WA residents may omit return postage.
5. By entering, participating or accepting any prize, you agree that Sponsor has the sole right to decide all matters and disputes arising from this sweepstakes. By entering, entrants agree to be bound by these Official Rules and that all decisions of Sponsor on all matters relating to this sweepstakes are final. Winners release Sponsor, their directors, officers, employees, and agents from any and all claims, liability, loss or damage, including any third party claims, arising from or relating to, in whole or in part, this sweepstakes, including entry and participation in this sweepstakes and acceptance, possession, use or misuse of a prize. You further agree that in the event of any third party claims, damages, losses or injuries, arising from or relating to this sweepstakes, arising from their entry, participation or acceptance of any prize, you indemnify Sponsor, its directors, officers, employees and agents from any and all such claims, including reasonable attorneys' fees related thereto.
