I am a junior in high school at the moment, going to senior in the fall. So we all know about the college applications, college visits, and all that cool crap. But for a person who is still undecided at what they want to major in or even do in the future (like myself), what is there to choose?
I seriously have nothing in mind when I think of what I want to major in and the counselors definitely do not help at all. I keep trying all types of classes from business math, ESF, APs, creative writing, drama, everything to broaden my view a little. But nothing catches my interest.
I am worried that if I enroll in a college and it turns out to not be the one in the future, I might be wasting my $ and going into more debt than I can pay. So... What can I do? Any suggestions?

Sure :D If you really have no clue what you want to do, then enroll in a college that has many, many undergrad majors to choose from. You may go in undecided, take an elective in something, and fall right in love with it.

That's how it worked for my sister, except she went to MIT. She went in wanting to be an engineer, took an elective in Geology, and threw the engineering stuff out the window. The problem she had though was that she enrolled in an engineering school, and expensive one at that ($60,000/yr), and their science program is limited. That's why she wishes she would have gone to a much larger school, where she could get a taste of everything, and dive into the one she wanted.

So don't feel bad if it seems like everyone around you has their majors figured out, because in reality, most of them are in the same boat you are.

You dont have to decide right now but in choosing a major think about your interest and what makes you happy. Sometimes people go to college and major in something just to make their parents happy but later regret it.

i actually refused outright to my teachers guidance councilors and parent to go to school until i knew what i wanted to do. Scary thought from their valedictorian. Luckily a position opened up in my school's cafeteria/ meeting/ study area. It doubles as a event center. So i ended up running the sound board the the lights. I fell in love. that drove me into the emerging broadcasting elective. They were just setting it up at the time so i got a lot of hands on experience with live sound equipment and recording. That what i want to do for the rest of my life. If I hadn't fallen into that i would have taken a gap year, moved away and immersed my self in the world with paying thousands of dollars... just my opinion though.

Ok, so being undecided on a major is perfectly fine. Most students in high school don't know what they want to major in. Heck, most college students don't know themselves. My advice is to take many different courses in college if you don't find anything you like in your high school career. In addition, don't go to a specialty school for something like science/engineering or performing arts if you don't have a clue on what might spark an interest in you. Last, at most schools you don't have to declare a major until the end of sophmore or beginning of your junior year. These things take time and appear when you least expect them.
